Nellore: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Friday urged IFFCO Kisan special economic zone (SEZ) to allot land to investors at a lower rate. Inaugurating Spanish wind turbine major Gamesa’s Rs 500 crore integrated facility here, Naidu said: “I wanted to bring a fertiliser plant here. The land was given to IFFCO.” The fertiliser cooperative IFFCO did not set up a fertiliser plant but converted its business plan into an agro based SEZ. The SEZ is being developed on 2,775 acres here. In a voice that sounded to be stern, Naidu said IFFCO should reduce its land rates so that investors can come and set up their units. Vijayawada: Both the Telugu states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are on loan taking spree. Andhra Pradesh is asking for a 3000 crore loan again. The State Government has requested centre to grant permission for taking the extra loan in the form of a letter. State requested to increase the upper limit of loan. Rajahmundry: One of the cars in the TDP national general secretary Nara Lokesh’s convoy met with an accident near Rajahmundry on Friday. Those seated in the car were said to be injured seriously. The accident took place near Vemagiri in the suburbs of Rajahmundry when one of the cars in the convoy hit a road divider and toppled over thrice. Vijayawada: Police have seized Rs 17.30 lakh in Rs 2,000 denomination, allegedly meant to be exchanged for a commission, from a person in Andhra Pradesh’s Krishna district. The man, along with an accomplice, allegedly brokered a deal with some persons for exchanging the scrapped Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes for a six per cent commission, a senior police official said. He used a police constable, his close relative working in Gudivada rural police station, as a shield for the operation. However, the persons who wanted to exchange the old currency did not turn up and Rahman started on his return journey. Andhra: The Hyderabad High Court today put an interim stay on an ACB court order directing the anti-graft agency to probe allegations against Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu with regard to “cash-for- vote” case. Justice Raja Elango also directed the ACB to file its counter and posted the matter after eight weeks. LED bulbs to light up 3 AP cities in run-up to Pushkaralu

Vijayawada: The street lights in Andhra Pradesh’s Vijayawada, Guntur and Kurnool cities, which are gearing up for the upcoming ‘Krishna Pushkaralu’ festival, will be replaced soon with LED bulbs. Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), a unit of the Energy Department of Government of India, has invested Rs 360 crore to replace all street lights with LED bulbs in the three cities. EESL intends to install 80,591 LED bulbs. Out of this, 69,797 bulbs have so far been installed. The programme has been taken up to provide better lighting in the cities which are visited by a large number of pilgrims during the festival.
