Hyderabad: As the Telangana state came into existence almost three years ago, the Congress plans a massive public meeting to highlight the misrule of the TRS on the state foundation day on June 2.

Telangana PCC chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy want to highlight the failures of both governments at the Centre and the State. Leaders would pick holes in the TRS election manifesto at the public meeting.

Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi would be attending the event as chief guest. The party leaders are holding discussions on the venue.

This meeting is likely to be held in KCR’s home turf of Medak district. Sangareddy and Narsapur are being considered for the venue. The party president is seeking opinion on other places such as Suryapet. Former minister Balram Naik suggested Dornakal while Alampur MLA made a strong case for his constituency.

The party is ensuring that a representation from every mandal would be attending the public meeting.

“Our public meeting will not be a show of strength, but a display of the Congress intent to take on the TRS ahead of the 2019 general elections,” Uttam Kumar Reddy told a local daily.

The Centre sounded off early polls to parliament and assemblies. The BJP is banking on Telangana as it considers it as a gateway to the South. The BJP president Amit Shah is touring the state in the last week of May.

The Congress leaders don’t to take any changes by asserting their hold in the state and project their party as an alternative to the TRS in the state.
