Fatehpur: Slamming the Samajwadi Party government for partisan behaviour on grounds of religion and caste, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said it is the biggest hindrance for development in Uttar Pradesh.

Addressing a public gathering here, Mr Modi said development, which was on ‘vanvaas’ (exile), during the past 14 years in the state, will end with the formation of a Bharatiya Janata Party government.

Mr Modi said three phases of polling indicate that the BJP is going to obtain a majority in the 403-member Assembly. Taking a swipe at Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, Mr Modi said, “I saw an interview in the morning that he was not looking confident, he knows that his party is not going to win.”

He said by his alliance, Akhilesh had insulted his ideologue Ram Manohar Lohia who opposed Congress.
