5 soldiers who were trapped under snow in Kashmir rescued

Five army personnel who were trapped under snow in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir were rescued on Saturday, the army said. They are presently under treatment. The soldiers who were part of an army patrol were trapped under snow near the Line of Control.

(Follow The Tribune on Facebook; and Twitter @thetribunechd) The Indian Army clarified that it was not an avalanche that hit an Army post in Kupwara, but that the snow track caved in.

The incident comes just days after two avalanches hit a military post and a patrol along the Line of Control, killing 15. The Rashtriya Rifles party was on routine patrol when the mishap occurred, police added.
