Hyderabad: Some banks have found that Rs 2,000 currency bundles have irregular numbers. A source in the RBI said, “We got a few complaints from bankers about the irregular series and numbers. There was no irregularity found in the counting.”

Another source said that a branch of Syndicate Bank was supplied Rs 500 crore recently. “On checking, we found irregularities in the numbering series. We found the irregularities in I, J and K series of Rs 2,000 denominations,” the source said.

The notes began with 1 as the last digit, but the next note was not 2. The notes in the bundle totalled to 100.
