Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala police have detained Shashi Tharoor along with other Congress leaders outside the Reserve Bank of India office in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.

Reportedly, the leaders were protesting against Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decision to demonetise India’s two high currency notes. Tharoor had criticised the government over the poor implementation of demonetisation. Speaking against demonetisation, Tharoor called the move for a “cash-scarce” economy and not “cash-less” economy.

Tharoor in one of his earlier Twitter posts had called Modi a confused housewife who had just started baking the first ‘roti’ and called the whole family for dinner.
