Rayala Telangana comes up once again

Rayala Telangana proposal, which combines Rayalaseema region with Telangana, for formation of a new state was raised during Andhra Pradesh bifurcation.

Under the proposal, Kurnool and Anantapur districts of Rayalseema, were expected to merge with Telangana and call the new state as Rayala Telangana. While the Rayala Telangana was supported by some, it was also opposed vehemently by some. As a result Rayala Telangana did not materialize.

Now almost two and half years have passed since bifurcation and AP and Telangana states are settling down. At this juncture once again Rayala Telangana has come to the fore.

Senior leader from Anantapur district who had vehemently supported Rayala Telangana during bifurcation has visited Telangana Assembly today. He had met Telangana ministers and MLAs in lobby and commented that if Anantapur and Kurnool districts were merged with Telangana then it would have been better.

Diwakar Reddy speaking to Telangana Finance Minister Etela Rajender commented that Anantapur and Kurnool districts are being being neglected in AP. Both districts would have got water if merged with Telangana.
