Rupee closes lower against US dollar

Mumbai: The Indian rupee on Tuesday closed over two week lower against the US dollar, after local equity markets fell for the fifth consecutive session.

The rupee closed at 68.04 per US dollar a level last seen on 5 December, down 0.24% from its previous close of 67.88. The home currency opened at 67.87 against the US dollar and touched a high and a low of 67.81 and 68.07, respectively. So far this year, it has fallen 2.6%.
