Pranab Mukherjee’s plane to Chennai returns to Delhi after technical snag

New Delhi: President of India, Pranab Mukherjee left for Chennai on Tuesday to pay last respect to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) supremo J Jayalalithaa. However, Indian Air Force plane carrying the President to Chennai, returns to Delhi after developing technical snag mid-air.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also left early on Tuesday for Chennai while Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi is likely to be in Chennai to pay last respect to the iconic leader Jayalalithaa. In wake of the leader’s demise, both the Houses of the Parliament remained adjourned for the day after obituary, as a mark of respect, in memory of Jayalalithaa.
