Chennai: The last rites of the six-times Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and India’s most charismatic leader J Jayalalithaa will be held today evening around 4.30 PM at the Marina Beach, Tamil Nadu.

This is the same place where Amma’s predecessors Anna and MGR were laid to rest. As per reports by TOI, J Jayalalithaa’s mortal remains will be buried as per Hindu Brahmin ritual and not cremated.

Jayalalithaa’s body has been taken to Marina Beach, a three-km journey from Rajaji Hall where the last rites will be performed.

Amma supporters gathered in large numbers and grieved for their beloved Amma’s demise. As per reports by TOI, it was informed that earlier there was a confusion about the type of funeral that should be given to the former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu but later, the party high command settled on burial.

The Tamil Nadu government on Tuesday took up the JCB excavators to prepare the burial site for the AIADMK supremo. However, NDTV reported that Amma will be buried in a sandalwood casket.
