Opposition is protesting against demonetisation of old Rs.500 and Rs.1000 notes and raised problems of people due to the shortage of new currency.

In Uttar Pradesh, the workers of Samajwadi Party protested at railway tracks in Allahabad and Kanpur. Whereas, all the major and large markets have no effect of protest and are remained open.

The Congress also showed its protest against demonetisation at some places in Uttar Pradesh.

An official said, protests have been reported from Chandauli, Mainpuri, Etawah, Kanpur, Agra, Allahabad, Mirzapur, Unnao and Bhadohi and no annoying activities were reported from these places

As most traders said that they had no instructions from their central leadership and excused them from the whole day closing.

Whereas, in Barabanki, Firozabad, Sambhal, Amroha, Rampur, most districts of western and eastern Uttar Pradesh were also seen open.

In Lucknow, major markets like Hazratganj, Aminabad, Bhoothnath, Gole Market and Narahi remained open and this shows that the protest doesn’t get a big support from Uttar Pradesh.
