Rupee closes down 0.6% against US dollar

Mumbai: The rupee weakened 0.6% against the US dollar, its steepest fall in over three months, tracking the losses in its Asian peers and the fall in local equity markets.

The rupee closed at 66.94 against the US dollar, down 0.6%, the most since 24 June, from its previous close of 66.53. The home currency opened at 66.83 a dollar and touched a low of 66.96—a level last seen on 21 September.
