Jharkhand BJP chief Tala Marandi’s son marries 11-year old minor; another minor alleges sexual abuse

In a shocking incident, Jharkhand BJP chief Tala Marandi’s son Munna Marandi has allegedly married a minor girl. Earlier on Wednesday, another minor girl had also accused him of sexual abuse.

According to reports, the marriage with the minor girl reportedly took place on June 27, in Godda region of Jharkhand and the reception was held on 29 June.

According to a news report, a letter by SDN Academy says the girl was born on July 25, 2005, and is enrolled in the sixth standard. The report said that Marandi’s son was earlier set to marry the minor’s cousin, but the girl’s family backed out of the marriage.

Regarding the claims of sexual abuse, an Indian Express report said the minor girl had submitted an application before the State Commission for Women against Munna for sexually abusing her for two years with the promise of marriage.

Meanwhile, District Child Protection officer Ritesh Kumar said that they received information about the alleged marriage and are investigating the matter. Speaking to Nai Duniya, he said, “We are investigating the issue. Marandi’s son got married to Mahagama’s resident Bhagan Baski’s fourth daughter.

Opposition leader in Jharkhand assembly, Sibu Soren, said that the name mentioned on the wedding card and the girl who got married were different.

District Congress president Deepika Pandey Singh has also filed a complaint with the Jharkhand women’s commission, and claimed that the police have not taken action against Munna or Tala Marandi. Singh also told NewsD that Jharkhand chief minister Raghubar Das was to attend Munna’s reception, which was held on June 29, but cancelled at the last minute.

Congress is demanding the resignation of the BJP state President, while Jharkhand Vikas Morcha’s Principal Secretary has demanded an SIT investigation.
