Highlights: PM Modi awarded Amir Amanullah Khan Award, Afghanistan’s highest civilian honour

Herat: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani on Saturday jointly inaugurated the Afghan-India Friendship Dam in Herat, Afghanistan.

The multipurpose project, undertaken by Indian Government on river Chist-e-Sharif in the province concerned, is expected to irrigate 75,000 hectares of land and generate 42 mega watt power, besides ensuring water supply and other benefits to local people.

Modi also addressed locals and talked about the strong bond India and Afghanistan will create with this dam.

PM Modi awarded the Amir Amanullah Khan Award, Afghanistan’s highest civilian honour. PM Modi concludes speech, wishes the people of Afghanistan and Muslims across the world for the Holy Month of Ramzan. On all fora, we will speak in one voice for Afghan right to a peaceful, prosperous, united, inclusive and democratic nation.
