Tehran: A new crackdown has been started on social networking site in Iran. They have arrested fashion models who were sharing photos.

Eight persons have been arrested under the charges of publishing photos of women without the obligatory “Hijab” on the picture-sharing application Instagram.

The State television broadcast live confessions of a fashion model who admitted that she posted her photos on Instagram without “Hijab” to promote beauty products in order to earn money.

Despite ban on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube many Iranians find easy access using Virtual Private Networks (VPNs).

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran’s Supreme Leader told on Saturday that internet was promoting un-Islamic ideology and it should be dealt with promptly.
