“We will revoke President’s rule in Uttarakhand, ” the Centre told the Supreme Court on Wednesday. “There is no doubt that Harish Rawat has proved majority. My instructions are that the Centre will revoke the President’s rule,” Attorney-General Mukul Rohatgi told the court.

The Union Cabinet is meeting now on revocation of President’s rule. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has left the Lok Sabha to chair the meeting.

The floor test in the State was held under the supervision of Principal Secretary, Legislative and Parliamentary Affairs Jaidev Singh.

Deposed Chief Minister Harish Rawat emerged out of the Uttarakhand Vidhan Sabha after apparently winning the vote of confidence.

MLAs from either side told the media that the Congress got 33 votes and the BJP 28, making Mr. Rawat the clear winner.

In the absence of the nine disqualified Congress MLAs, 61 MLAs, barring Speaker Govind Singh Kunjwal, participated in the voting.

The result was presented to the apex court in a sealed cover.
