He complained, “This morning I ate breakfast along with the other passengers in the train. However after a bite of the meal two passengers noticed dead cockroach in their meal.” A written complaint was filed on the basis of the statements given and action would be taken against those in charge of the food.

This isn’t the first such instance, on earlier occasions too Shatabdi passengers have been served dead cockroaches in meals. In 2014, Railways had imposed heavy fines totalling Rs 11.50 lakh on nine caterers including IRCTC for serving “bad quality” food on trains. Last year in December, a cockroach was served in the soup and glass pieces were found in the meal in July the same year.  Earlier this year too a passenger on board Shatabdi from Chandigarh had complained about a cockroach in her breakfast.
