Jayalalitha DA case postponed to February 23

New Delhi: The appeal filed by Karnataka challenging the acquittal of J Jayalalitha and others will now be heard by the Supreme Court on February 23.

The case was earlier scheduled for February 2 and was to be heard on a day-to-day basis. However, today the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister through her counsel sought that the case be postponed to a further date citing the Arunachal Pradesh matter.

It was stated that the case relating to the imposition of President’s rule was being heard on February 1 and the same could continue the next day.

The Bench which is headed by Justice P C Ghose agreed to postpone the matter for February 23 since the matter of Arunachal Pradesh is slated for February 1. The adjournment was sought on the ground that the matter could spill over the next day too.

Karnataka had filed an appeal against the acquittal of Jayalalitha and others. The Karnataka High Court had acquitted her in the disproportionate assets case.
