Actions will be taken against Wakf land encroaches: Minister

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Minority Welfare Minister Palle Raghunadha Reddy today said stringent action would be initiated against Wakf properties encroaches.

Reddy told reporters on his visit to the city here that in every district committees were formed under Collectors to protect the Wakf properties and they were directed to identify land under the Wakf Board and those which have been illegally occupied.

The minister said there is about 67,000 acre of Wakf lands in the state, of which 37,000 acre is under the possession of encroaches.

Reddy on the occasion also said the government is also mulling to set up a study circle for minorities in the capital region.
