J-K: 3 attacks in 4 hours leave 3 policemen dead

Shopian, J-K: Jammu and Kashmir today suffered 3 terror attacks by militants at 3 places namely Shopian, Baramulla and Tral (South Kashmir) which left 3 policemen dead, 1 police officer critical injured and one civilian wounded.

3 policemen were killed when they went to investigate a crime in a village in Shopian district of Kashmir valley. All the three were reportedly unarmed when the militants opened indiscriminate fire on them.

“Three policemen — one head constable and two constables — were killed in a militant attack at Ashipora in Shopian district,” a police officer said.

Hours before,  in another incident, separatist guerrillas shot at a police officer in Baramulla district in North Kashmir. The police officer Ghulam Mustafa was shot at in the Pattan-bound bus and is said to be in critical condition. The drive took the bus to a police post, from where the personnel was taken to hospital.

In the third incident, a civilian was injured in Tral in South Kashmir. Police claimed that the civilian was attacked on suspicion that he was an informer. Tral incident was the third attack in last four hours.

Following the three successive terror attack in the valley, the former J-K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah tweeted, “Grim reminder of the challenges in Kashmir, while we celebrate the colours of spring & try to attract tourists, 3 brave policemen are killed.”
