‘Drone’ found in White House grounds by Secret Service in latest security breach
President Obama is currently in India but breach is the latest in a series of security blunders.
Security around the White House has been breached AGAIN after a suspected drone was discovered.
Secret Service chiefs admitted today that they had found the “electronic device” early on Monday morning, leading to tightened security around the building.
A perimeter was set up around the White House to restrict access, while an increase in security officers was also reported.
No US Government official confirmed what the device was, but local news in Washington are reporting that it was a drone.
The device was not considered a threat.
President Obama is currently on a three-day visit to India with his wife Michelle.
The couple’s daughters, Malia and Sasha, are at home with their grandmother.
Despite US officials attempting to play down the incident, security surrounding the president will conch again come under the spotlight.
It is the latest in a long line of breaches of the White House –including a number last year where people got into the grounds.
In October last year, Secret Service chief Julia Pierson was forced to resign after it was revealed agents of hers let a former convict in a lift with the president.
President Obama is expected to fly back to the United States via Saudi Arabia where he will pay his respects following the death of King Abdullah.
