Bill Gates promises support to A.P.

Microsoft co-founder, Bill Gates assured Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu that he would support Andhra Pradesh in technology, app development and start-ups, education, health and immunisation programmes. After attending a private dinner hosted by Mr. Gates in Davos, Mr. Naidu had a 40-minute meeting with him. The Chief Minister made a presentation on Andhra Pradesh’s Innovation and Start-up Policy and also about the skill development programme to him.

The Microsoft co-founder, who met the Chief Minister after 10 years, said he would explore the possibility of setting up Microsoft Development Centre in the State. The Chief Minister interacted with Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and discussed about investment opportunities.

In another 30-minute meeting with Google Chief Executive Officer Eric Schmidt, the Chief Minister got an assurance from him that the company would support A.P. in its digital literacy programme, according to a press release issued from the Chief Minister’s office.

In other meetings during the day, the Chief Minister met with B. Goenka of Welspun Group and also took part in a session on ‘Global Dilemmas: Building responsible supply chains for tomorrow’s consumers.’He also met Sunil Mittal of Bharti Group and discussed on 4G services in the State. Meanwhile, Mr. Naidu has decided to extend his trip by another day. On Saturday, he will meet industrialists and discuss about investment opportunities in Andhra Pradesh. Member of Parliament C.M. Ramesh, Principal Secretaries Ajay Jain and S.S. Rawat too will stay back with the Chief Minister and return on Sunday morning. While Finance Minister Y. Ramakrishnudu and other officials would return on Saturday night.
