2nd ODI: Australia defeat India by 4 wickets
Melbourne: Australia defeated India by four wickets in the second One-Day International (ODI) match of the tri-series here at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Sunday.
Chasing 268 runs to win, Australia made 269/6 in 49 overs. Opener Aaron Finch was the top scorer for the team with 96 runs.
Earlier, after winning the toss and electing to bat first India made 267/8 thanks to Rohit Sharma’s 138.
Left-handed batsman Suresh Raina scored 51 and put up a 126-run partnership with the right-hander Rohit for the fourth wicket
Mitchell Starc’s career-best six-wicket haul helped Australia restrict the visitors to 267 for 8.
Opening the innings, Rohit blasted nine boundaries and four sixes in 139 balls to produce his sixth ODI hundred and third against Australia.
The Mumbaikar put on 126 runs for the 4th wicket with Suresh Raina (51 runs, 63 balls, 6 fours) even as Starc produced a fine bowling display to pick up 6-43 in his ten overs.
