Travel Advisory to Rail Passengers in the wake of blasts at Chennai Central Rly Stn

Hyderabad: In the wake of this bomb blasts at Chennai Central Railway Station, South Central Railway General Manager PK Srivastava reviewed the security measures on the SCR and has directed that the Security be beefed up all over the Zone.

Acting on the same, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) along with the Government Railway Police (GRP) personnel have intensified security and are carrying out extensive checks at railway stations and trains on the entire Zone. The General Manager also instructed that a thorough check of all terminating and originating trains be conducted jointly by the RPF, Carriage & Wagon and Electrical staff.

In the light of the enhanced security drill, the SCR has appealed to passengers to remain alert during the course of their rail journey in the interest of public safety and security. Passengers are advised that in case they notice any suspicious/unclaimed articles or explosive/inflammable materials in trains or at stations, they may immediately alert the nearest railway staff or call on 040-27833366 or SMS to 09701370728 to enable the Railways initiate prompt action.

It is also reiterated that the rail passengers shall not carry fire crackers/inflammable substance such as Gas Cylinder, Petrol / Diesel / Kerosene, Stoves, Lantern, Explosive Chemical Powder, detonating substances etc., as luggage / parcel with them in trains or in railway premises as the same is prohibited. Carrying of such articles poses grave safety threat and creates a highly unsafe situation for all the rail passengers.
