Hyderabad Jan 23: The Cyberabad police’s negligence has resulted in immigration officials detaining a 15-year-old girl at the RGI Airport. Causing further trauma to her family, the Crime Investigation Department (CID) sleuths even released the name of the girl, a rape victim, to the media in a press release.
In July 2013, family members of the 15-year-old girl from Jalavayu Vihar Colony in Kukatpally had lodged a missing complaint with the KPHB police. As the girl went missing with her passport, KPHB sleuths wrote to the CID asking for issuance of a Look Out Circular (LOC). Subsequently, the girl was traced to Bangalore along with a relative of hers. Based on the complaint lodged by her kin, police then altered the case to sections 363 (Kidnapping) and 376 (Rape) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The accused was also arrested.
