Hyderabad Jan,23: The Andhra Pradesh high court on Wednesday dismissed the plea of senior IAS officerManmohan Singh challenging an order of the special CBI court in taking cognizance of a chargesheet filed against him in the illegal assets case of YSR Congress chief Jaganmohan Reddy.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) named Manmohan Singh as an accused in the Vanpic project land deal wherein he was charged with extending undue favours to the project promoters in allotting land in his capacity as principal secretary in the state infrastructure and investments department.

The petitioner contended that he had acted in accordance with the rules and the cabinet had given its approval in allotment of land for the Vanpic project. He argued that the action of the CBI in filing a chargesheet against him without sanction from the government was illegal.
