After electric shock, worker succumbs to injuries

HYDERABAD Jan 23: A daily wage worker, who had suffered electric shock while undertaking road cutting work near Gandhi Hospital a week ago, succumbed on Wednesday. The victim was identified as D Laxminarayana, 35, of Borabanda. On January 16, Laxminarayana, his fellow workers Ravindar and Anand Raj had suffered severe shock when they cut an underground electric cable while cutting the road.

Ravindar and Anand’s were still undergoing treatment in the hospital and their condition is said to be critical.

The mishap occurred due to alleged negligence of electricity officials who failed to switch off power despite prior intimation. Gandhi Nagar police have registered a case under sections 304-A (Causing death by rash or negligent act) and 337 (Causing hurt by an act which endangers human life) of the Indian Penal Code ( IPC).
