Hyderabad Jan,22: The indefinite auto rickshaw strike was called off Tuesday evening as the government accepted the demands of auto unions, including a fare revision, much to the chagrin of the commuters.

“The minimum fare has been increased from Rs 16 to Rs 20 and tariff per kilometer has been hiked to Rs 11 from earlier Rs 9. The waiting charges have been fixed at Rs 5 for every 15 minutes as against the earlier 50 paise for every two minutes,” said a jubilant Sathi Reddy, a member of auto driver unions’ joint action committee.

“The transport commissioner has also promised to lower the rates of traffic violations by discussing it with the auto union members and the traffic police authorities,” he added.
