Dacoits attack 8 houses, flee with gold, cash

NIZAMABAD: Dacoits on Monday attacked five persons in eight houses in Balkonda mandal headquarters and fled with gold and cash besides injuring five persons.

The dacoity took place in Vinayaknagar and NTR Nagar in the wee hours of Monday. According to the police, six or seven dacoits, all in the age group of 25-30 years, barged into the homes and attacked the families. They took 3.5 tola gold ornaments from the house of Naanem Pedda Narsaiah, and Rs 5,000 cash and recharge coupons of various mobile phone companies from a kirana store.

When Narsaiah resisted the dacoits, they attacked him with stones. With his condition turning serious, he was shifted to Hyderabad. Two others, Gangadhar and Shabbir Ali, were admitted to a local hospital.
